Hello Delta Family.

As the beginning of the new school year approaches, I wanted to provide you with a preview of the  2021-2022 school year. The COVID pandemic has created numerous challenges, hardships and losses.
I believe we are on the road to recovery, but the process will take time and present its own
problems. Our priorities at Delta are the health, safety and education of your children. To this end,  we are implementing a new instructional model. Students who wish to come back to school for face-to-face instruction may do so. School will be in session from 8:00am to 3:08pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be no face-to-face instruction for students on Wednesdays. However, students are expected to complete their online coursework on Wednesdays and teachers will have open office hours via Zoom that day.   Students who would prefer to stay online next year will be allowed to do so. Delta has several
options for live/synchronous teacher instruction as well as asynchronous learning.  During the times the teachers are on campus providing in-person instruction to students, the online students are allowed to Zoom into the live classes to view the lecture, ask questions and interact with other students. If the online students cannot attend the live classes via Zoom, the recordings will be posted so students can watch the lecture at a time that fits into their schedule. In addition to those opportunities, Delta’s computer lab is open from 3:30pm – 6:30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Online students are encouraged to come to campus at least once per week during those days/times for face-to-face support.    The flexible instructional models at Delta Academy allows you to choose the best fit for your child’s
educational and social/emotional needs. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.  For the safety of our community, I strongly encourage you and your children get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  That being said, vaccinations will not be required for the 2021-2022 school year.
As I am writing this, the County Commission and Governor’s Office are considering reinstating the mask mandate. I am hopeful they will allow the school’s to set their own mask policies. If that is the case, students and staff who have been vaccinated do not need to wear a mask. Those who have not, will be required to wear one.  Please stay safe and enjoy the rest of your summer. School starts on August 9th and we are looking forward to seeing you for an exciting and wonderful year.

Sincerely,

Kyle Konold, Ph.D.
