We understand that housing situations can change. Our goal is to ensure every student has stability, support, and full access to their education—regardless of their living situation.

What is the McKinney-Vento Act?
The McKinney-Vento Act is a federal law that protects the educational rights of students experiencing homelessness. It ensures immediate enrollment, school stability, and access to support services for children and unaccompanied youth.
Who May Qualify?
Students may qualify if they are:
Sharing housing due to loss of housing or economic hardship
Living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or campgrounds due to lack of alternative accommodations
Staying in emergency or transitional shelters
Living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, or other temporary settings
Not living in the physical custody of a parent or guardian
Lacking a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence
Student Rights
Eligible students have the right to:
Immediate enrollment, even without normally required documents
Remain at the school of origin when it is in the student’s best interest
Transportation assistance
Access to school programs, activities, and services
Support Services
Students identified under McKinney-Vento may receive support such as:
Academic support and tutoring
Counseling services
Assistance with school supplies and uniforms
Coordination with housing and community resources
How Are Students Identified?
Students may be identified through:
Online registration in Infinite Campus
Family, student, or staff referral at any time during the school year
If a student’s housing situation changes after enrollment, families may still complete the Student Housing Questionnaire to determine eligibility for services.

Dispute Resolution
If there is a disagreement regarding eligibility or services:
A written explanation will be provided
Families have the right to appeal
The student will remain enrolled during the dispute process
